Rural Community Tour

Visit a village high in the mountains, hike to a local sacred spot, and learn about medicinal plants

Community of Ampay, Pisac, Sacred Valley of the Incas

8:00 am-4:30 pm

8:00 a.m.: Meeting at the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, at the water fountain. We will then head to Plaza Regocijo where our transportation will be waiting.

8:35 a.m.: Arrival at Awana Kancha, a textile center where you will see various types of camelids and learn about Andean textile processes.

9:40 a.m.: Arrival in Pisac.

10:15 a.m.: Arrival at my grandmother’s house, where she will welcome us with a small assortment of Andean products from her farm to enjoy (potatoes, corn, beans, oca, etc.).

10:40 a.m.: After enjoying the welcome and tasting the products, we will begin our walk to the community’s sacred site. During the walk, my grandmother will explain the medicinal plants of the area. We will arrive at the sacred site at 12:15 p.m.

At the sacred site, we will have a 15-minute break. After the break, we will head to the main road where our vehicle will be waiting to take us to the lagoon.

1:00 p.m.: Departure to the lagoon and arrival at 1:30 p.m. Our transportation will drop us off by the lagoon where we will have time to relax, swim in the lagoon, eat, meditate, ask questions, etc.

1:40 p.m.: We will visit the next lagoon, which is a 15-minute walk away, where we can learn more about the medicinal plants of the area, which are quite different from those in the community due to the altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. We will return to the vehicle at 2:30 p.m.

2:45 p.m.: Return from the lagoon to my grandmother’s house to drop her off and say goodbye. We will then proceed to Pisac, arriving at 3:40 p.m.

4:30 p.m.: Arrival at the Plaza de Armas in Cusco and end of our tour.
